FALCON TRAIL
RESOURCES:
THE RIDE:
Falcon Trail makes you feel like a kid. The downhill sections are long and the climbs are just enough to get you breathing. It’s the perfect mixture of fun and exercise.
ROUTES:
There are a few ways to access the trail. The most popular is a little parking lot just west of the stadium.
But if you’re looking to get a few extra miles, try taking the Santa Fe Trail. Use the Woodmen parking lot and ride onto base. Take Pine Dr. West ‘til you reach the fire station. The Falcon Trail is just past it.
Once at the trail, go clockwise or counterclockwise. Either way, every vertical foot you go down, you’re gonna peddle up.
There are white markers along the trail. If you go too long without seeing one, you might have taken a wrong turn. But for the most part, it’s an extremely well marked and maintained trail.
GOOD TO KNOW:
-This ride isn’t too difficult, but it’s also not a ride for beginners. You’ll want to be in decent shape and pretty comfortable on a bike.
-Rattle Snakes, bears, hawks, and deer also use this trail. But don’t worry about it—it’s just kinda good to know.
-Storms are sneaky on base—especially when you’re staring at your front tire on a climb.
